It's therefore quite logical to believe that the wish for Goku to thrive did happen and that it explains why he's gotten so powerful and defeats almost every villain himself instead of Vegeta, for example. However, a problem remains. Bardock wished for his sons to thrive, not just Goku.

In his death agony, Raditz's last words are that the two remaining Saiyan out in space will attack Earth in one year. Bulma and the others arrive, having followed behind, and as they watch, Goku passes away as well.

Name. Bardock's name, like all other Saiyan characters, is a pun on edible plant material, in this case a burdock vegetable. The word 'burdock' transliterated into katakana is badokku (バードック, bādokku; ; ; ), but the character's name is written as Badakku (バーダック, Bādakku; ; ; ), changing the 'do' character to 'da'.
